Artist and illustrator Wayne Hazen is publishing an illustrated version of “A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mary Rowlandson”. Wayne has actually created about 500 ink drawings illustrating the story of Mary Rowlandson and will have 12 large (18 x 24 inches) drawings with him for this program. Wayne will discuss the person and character of Mary Rowlandson, be signing and selling his newly published book, and talk about the process of publishing his book. This will be a great evening for all those interested in local history and seeing the story of Mary Rowlandson illustrated in remarkable ink drawings. Mr. Hazen has had an extensive and successful career as an artist, art educator and advocate for the arts. His work has been shown in a number of major museums throughout the United States. Currently he lives in Lancaster and is developing the art department at Atlantic Union College. |

Exactly 167 years to the day, Bob Young of Leominster re-enacts Henry David Thoreau's 1842 journey from Concord to the summit of Wachusett. Thoreau documented his journey in the essay "A Walk to Wachusett," published in 1843.
