- The Thomas Allen Estate at the corner of Allen Hill and Mountain Roads, under construction in 1895.
- Albert Garganigo first opened an Antique Carriage Museum
in 1935 at the current corner of Worcester and Deer Run Roads. It
continued to grow and prosper on the property next door till it closed
in 1963.
- The Buck Chair workers in front of the Buck Mill in 1933 located on Sterling Road at the Princeton/Sterling town line.
- The 1948 Labor Day Chandler Bullock Tennis Finals being played at the Bullock Tennis Court at the end of Bullock Lane at the junction of Merriam and Sterling Roads.
- Princeton
Center School, with a horse barn next to it, was built in 1906 on
Boylston Avenue, and it enrolled students in grades 1 through 12. A
2-story addition was latter added in 1937.
- This is a picture of
the current Congregational Church with the original horse carriage sheds
located behind it. This church was originally built on the common in
1838 and was moved across the street in 1884 to make way for the building of
the Princeton Public Library which was donated by Edward A. Goodnow.
- The Crocker Farm in 1887 on Goodnow Road. This is the current location of the Audubon Society.
- This
picture was taken in the early 1900's looking south-east across Echo
Lake on the Mt. Wachusett State Reservation on Echo Lake Rd. You'll
notice in the distance an barn that was built by the Mason's as an ice
storage house. You may also notice the lack of trees, because at the
turn of the 20th century most trees state wide had been cut to build and
heat homes, as well as for the making of furniture.
- This is a picture of the General Store and Post Office located at 78 Main St. in East Princeton in 1935.
- This picture of children loaded in a wagon drawn by horses, is in front of the old Fernside on Mountain Rd., which is currently operated by McLean Hospital.
- This is a picture of the Golf Clubhouse which was situated on a 6-hole golf course in the fields around Russell Corner.
- An early picture of Grandview Hotel at the corner of Gregory and Mountain Roads.
- One of many summer Boarding Houses
located in Princeton from the 1860's
to 1930's that took the overflow borders from the summer hotels was
located on Worcester Road and called the Howard House. It was demolished
in 1960. Larry Smith built a house that replaced it.
- Wooden bridge over a feeder stream into Quinipoxet Reservoir near the end of Lovers Lane.
- Balance
Rock on Mt. Wachusett, which is really located in Westminster, but it
was a major attraction for people who visited Princeton or the mountain
in the late 1880's through the 1930's.
- Worcester Rd. was rebuilt
by prisoners, who primarily use hand tools to build the base during the
1930's. This picture was taken across from the Boylston Villa.
- This a picture of the antique auto race, which was held yearly from the Auto Museum
on Worcester Rd. to the top of Mt. Wachusett. This picture was taken at
the corner of Echo Lake and Mountain Roads before 1953 when the
Mountain Rd was rebuilt.
- This is a picture of the flower gardens and trellised backyard of the Boylston Villa on Worcester Rd.
- In
the early 1900's on the right hand side of Wachusett Lake, there was a
very active park called Wachusett Park. There was even a trolley track
that came nearby as it headed to Westminster, that brought daily
visitors from nearby towns and Fitchburg.
- One of many summer Boarding Houses
located in Princeton from the 1860's to 1930's that took the overflow
borders from the summer hotels was located on Prospect St. and called Woodland Cottage.
