"This hotel was formerly the "Mountain Cottage" and is owned and conducted by Mr. Wm. R. Howe. It is beautifully situated on the eastern slope of Mt. Wachusett, Princeton, and Mass. This house has been enlarged, remodeled and re-furnished from top to bottom. There are open fireplaces in the parlors, pure running spring water, both hot and cold on every floor, bathrooms and all the modern improvements of a city hotel. It doubtless has the best sanitary appointments of any house in Princeton. The business of this popular hotel has increased so rapidly that Mr. Howe intends to double its capacity for the entertain-ment of guests next spring, so that next season he will easily be able to accommodate 100 boarders. This speaks volumes not only for the house and its surroundings, but for its management. It is substantially furnished, and every bedroom is fitted up with the finest quality of hair mattresses and the best patent springs, a luxury seldom found in summer hotels. The views from this house are unsurpassed, and the table supplied with all the delicacies of the season. A large farm connected with the house supplies the table with fresh vegetables and berries daily, while tile dairy produces the butter, cream and milk."
